Inside MMA Poll: Fans split on Carano vs. “Cyborg” predictions
Tweet
On this past Friday’s new edition of “Inside MMA” on HDNet, the results of one such poll were revealed. And Carano had the slight edge.
Tens of thousands of votes were cast, and 53 percent of them went to Carano. Santos picked up the other 47 percent.
Last month, Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker seemed confident the fight will happen under his fight banner. And as MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) reported, it will have title implications.
“That’s going to be the No. 1 and the No. 2 female fighting in the world,” Coker said. “It will be our first Strikeforce female title belt. We’re going to be proud to put that on, and hopefully we can put that on in August.
“That’s our date we’re shooting for, and pending some discussion with either fighter it could go further. But at some point we will have this fight. I feel very confident.”

MMAWeekly: Kim Couture Off Strikeforce Challenger Debut

According to MMAWeekly and “muiltiple sources”, the Kim Couture bout is off and the reason is apparently related to some kind of marital problem between the Coutures:
MMAWeekly.com has learned that Kim Couture has withdrawn from a scheduled fight with Meisha Tate at SHO MMA: Strikeforce Challenger Series on May 15 in Fresno, Calif. The two were set to meet in a 135-pound contest on the main card of the event featuring the promotion’s up-and-comers.
Multiple sources close to the situation confirmed the news Tuesday evening, and a subsequent post from Tate’s Myspace blog echoed the change.
In the post, Tate claims Couture pulled out of the fight because of marital problems between her and husband Randy Couture.
“So Kim ‘Sugar Free’ Couture is pulling out of the fight supposedly cuz her and Randy are getting a divorce………..I’m so pissed right now……Sugar Free my ass!!” Tate wrote, none too sympathetic with her former foe’s plight.
Couture, 1-1 as a professional mixed martial artist, was to face her toughest test in the ground-savvy Tate, who’s resume stands at 7-1.

Here’s an interesting article about the Carano/Cyborg fight by Kevin Iole of Yahoo! Sports:
You just have to watch her first for a couple of minutes and you know why,” Coker said. “She’s like a Tasmanian Devil. From the first second, she’s all over you. She comes out and comes at you and tries to wear you down and knock you out.
