Fox News: Tara Larosa and Ariel Helwani on Women’s MMA
Fox Fight Game put together a very interesting discussion panel on the state of women’s MMA. Topics include Tara’s infamous ESPN E:60 interview, fighting Gina, and the hot-button issue of weight-cutting.
Tara Larosa is widely regarded to be the #1 women’s fighter at 135lb with an exemplary record of 17-1-0, yet she is not signed with any major promotion. Aside from the inevitable Carano/Cyborg fight, many fight fans agree that Gina’s biggest test will be a matchup against Tara. If you’d like to learn more about her, please be sure checkout Ariel’s article at MMAFanhouse.

MMAWeekly: Kim Couture Off Strikeforce Challenger Debut
According to MMAWeekly and “muiltiple sources”, the Kim Couture bout is off and the reason is apparently related to some kind of marital problem between the Coutures:
MMAWeekly.com has learned that Kim Couture has withdrawn from a scheduled fight with Meisha Tate at SHO MMA: Strikeforce Challenger Series on May 15 in Fresno, Calif. The two were set to meet in a 135-pound contest on the main card of the event featuring the promotion’s up-and-comers.
Multiple sources close to the situation confirmed the news Tuesday evening, and a subsequent post from Tate’s Myspace blog echoed the change.
In the post, Tate claims Couture pulled out of the fight because of marital problems between her and husband Randy Couture.
“So Kim ‘Sugar Free’ Couture is pulling out of the fight supposedly cuz her and Randy are getting a divorce………..I’m so pissed right now……Sugar Free my ass!!” Tate wrote, none too sympathetic with her former foe’s plight.
Couture, 1-1 as a professional mixed martial artist, was to face her toughest test in the ground-savvy Tate, who’s resume stands at 7-1.
